This past week has been a doozy and in the same sentence a total gift. It has taught me so much about going with the flow.

I have been planning for the past 4 months a move to Bali for a month. I was accepted for an entrepreneurial scholarship for a course in Bali to learn some tools to build my business and myself, to help as many people as I can on the planet.

It was all arranged.  I had …

  • paid for the flights
  • trained new staff
  • closed my books (which are booked out 2 months in advance)
  • ensured the month lined up with school holidays so I had the chance for my 3 children and hubby to come over (so I didn’t go completely mental without them), and paid for their tickets and accommodation

All the while my gorgeous hubby was jumping from the corporate ladder to working for himself.

I am not new to investing in my self-development or business development,

Over the past couple of years, I have spent upward of $90K to be the best version of me and provide even more value to my clients.

I run retreats regularly overseas for a week at a time but it’s a big commitment for a month out from my life and family.

So I was ready, I was already feeling a little tickle of a cold from my immune system faltering and I know from past experience when I am pushing myself and my adrenals are firing, that it taxes my immunity. But I got onto the immune-boosting vitamins and herbs and kept meditating.

Then 10 days out, I get a phone call – ‘Unfortunately we have had to cancel the current intake as a large group has moved to a different time of the year.’

Pardon? Did I really hear that?

‘We can reimburse your flights and move you to another month, which would you like? ‘

Woah…

So I explained my situation and was told another member of the team would be in contact.

I paced the house for a little, waiting for my hubby to come home to debrief what just happened.

It was then I had two of the most incredible conversations of my life – the first with a mastermind colleague, then with my hubby.

My mastermind buddy asked one of the most important questions – ‘Why were you going in the first place?’ … the good old WHY.

What came to me in that moment wasn’t what I expected.

‘I was going to find out if I was allowed to do what I want to do, I was seeking permission’ BOOM

I don’t need someone outside of me to give me permission!! And you don’t either.

You and I, have everything inside of us to create the life we dream.

In fact, I created this situation in the first place. I had planted the seed in my mind a few weeks before.

Then, the conversation with my hubby…

‘So honey, what if I still went?’

He said (and I am paraphrasing) ‘My love, I know you thrive when you are in a different country and culture, I know you’re an incredible creator, you’ve built so much already in your business, the only thing you lack is time… and you have just bought yourself a month’s worth. You don’t need someone’s permission to build your next project. You’ve got a backpack, get going.’

I am so grateful. I absolutely love this turn of events.

My hubby is right, seeing 1,200 clients a year through my clinic, I simply would not have taken the time out… yet, through this, I bought myself the time.

My zone of genius is in creation, sharing knowledge, connection and cultural integration. That’s why I am totally in flow running retreats and speaking events, and why I can feel the flow already when I think about this coming month.

Instead of seeking out from someone else to be allowed to do it… I am allowing.

There is the most beautiful, yet profound difference between the two.

Now I have 2 questions for you…

What are you doing or paying for, simply because you want permission?

What is your zone of genius and how can you create life so you are 100% in it?
