I am here today to talk to you about saying yes to things that you aren’t quite sure of. Because you actually don’t know what life is going to be like on the other side of saying yes. The only way to find out is to do it!
Say Yes
We’ve just been finishing up two immersions here in Bali taking nats, nuts, herbies, and praccies on a deep dive. It has been so cool to see people in our profession saying yes to checking in, saying yes to being around other people who inspire them, and saying yes to something different. Over 50 people came through saying yes to all sorts of amazing things.
When you say yes, what happens is that a new standard is actually set. Maybe you’re looking up and thinking, “I wish I could have that.”
The event I am attending is called Awesomeness Fest. This is my fourth Awesomeness Fest, which is a conference that I absolutely love – the feeling, the people, the networking, the conversation. These are all things that I wanted in my life.
When I first applied to come to the Fest (four times ago), I was really worried about what I would say yes to. I knew I wanted to say yes to something, I knew I wanted to change and that I wanted something different for myself, my business, my life and my family. But all of my fears came up.
All of the feelings of, “But I’m not like everybody else, I’m not enough, I haven’t got the money, the time, of the following.” All of the beautiful inferiority complex, all of the not-enoughness. We all go through that. I still go through it.
It happens to everybody and it’s something that was discussed in depth this past couple of weeks during this training in Bali. We all go through it and then there is a moment where you can still say yes. The second you say yes to it, a different part of you shows up. It’s the part of you that doesn’t know what life is like on the other side of that yes. It’s a different part of you that steps up to the yes.
You step up to another level and the world looks different up there and you set a new standard for yourself. That standard then becomes your ground level and then you’re able to say yes to other things.
We saw this here in the past couple of weeks. People have been saying yes to changing something, to getting visible online, to finally creating an eCourse or actually sharing the one they already have with people. Saying yes to that creates a new standard.
Envision Your Future
The theme at Awesomeness Fest this time is “Envision Your Future.”
Jason Silva will be speaking later on this afternoon – one of the most extraordinary minds I have seen on the internet (he has an amazing YouTube channel if you haven’t checked him out yet).
I’ve been to Awesomeness Fest before so it has become my standard to attend. But every time, I know that there will 250 other entrepreneurs – amazing innovators, creators, visionaries, people running huge, multi-million dollar (even billion dollar!) companies here at the same time as startups. Being able to say yes in a moment like that, being able to say yes to something different creates a different conversation. You get to this position where you’re saying yes to standing or sitting next to somebody who owns a billion dollar company.
It changes the conversation. Your standard becomes very different when you are surrounded by the people who have said yes to, the life that you have said yes to.
This is the luxury collection of Laguna which is a beautiful, very special resort here in Bali. But still, all of my beautiful limiting stuff came up for me here.
We’ve been attending this amazing retreat and it’s in a space that’s totally in alignment with me – it’s essentially family-run, it’s a beautiful five-star resort – but it has a really different vibe. Saying yes to actually showing up here as myself, saying yes to wearing what I wear when other people are wearing their luxury pajamas, white silk pants, and all that kind of stuff.
Saying yes to being in a conversation there and being totally human and totally you sets a new standard for the conversations that you can have. I’ve had friends that are currently in South Africa attending Richard Branson’s mastermind on the Safari and they’re saying the exact same situation. When you take yourself out of your current environment and say yes to being in a different environment, it permeates your cells and becomes a new standard for you now.
The interesting thing is we do this all the time with our clients. We go, “Yes, what would it look like for you to say yes to going to the gym? We’re going to pop you into a different environment and you’re going to see what that feels like. Yeah, it’s weird and uncomfortable at first. Saying yes to going to that yoga class is weird and uncomfortable at first.”
But when you lean in and continually say yes, it becomes the new standard. By the end of one month of your client going to yoga, they’re a different person, right? Their standards have changed. When they say yes to having a smoothie every morning rather than no breakfast or having doughnuts for breakfast, their standard changes.
We won’t know who we’re going to be on the other side of that because we’ve never been that person before so it feels weird foreign. When we yes, it becomes our new standard. That new standard seeps through our way of being and then we can show up as that. As the new healthy person, the new active person, the person who takes their body and their health seriously.
We talk to our clients like that all the time but it’s the exact same thing for you in business.
What are you aspiring to that you know you need to do for your business that is totally out of your comfort zone? It might cost you some money or time or effort or changes because you haven’t been there before. It will feel kind of weird initially but when you say yes to it, it’s going to set a new standard for you.
Conferences
One of the biggest things that we’ve heard in the mastermind group these past five days is about conferences (this is a very actionable step for what I’m discussing with you guys today!)
What conferences are in your target market? What conferences do you want to be known as an expert for that you can show up in? To feel what it feels like to be around those types of people?
It might not be ‘Congress’ or it might not be ‘The Symposium’ or it might not be that kind of thing.
But, for instance, we’ve got an amazing thyroid mentor in our mastermind group. We looked online and found an Australasian thyroid conference about Hashimoto’s and that kind of thing.
What would it look like to be presenting a poster from your particular aspect from the amazing work that you’ve done? Even just with one client? You could do an N =1 and provide a poster and be in the space of all the people talking about your particular target market!
If you do rural health, how can you show up at a conference where all of the like-minded people are, so that you can feel what it feels like to say yes to that new standard of you actually stepping into being the rural natural health guru? Or the thyroid person, the crisis situation person, or the mental health person? We don’t have to hang around the same things all the time.
Broadening your horizons and being with people who are going to hold the space for your vision and you love to talk about that topic anyway? How can you say yes to that even though you get feeling icky?
I know some of you who are watching this right now are thinking, “I’m not going to show up to a medical conference that’s on a specific thing because I’m a natural health practitioner. It’s a totally different model.” And other things that are coming up for you.
But when you talk about this thing these things all the time with your patients every day (you probably end up talking about it at barbecues!), why not show up in a space where everybody is talking about it?
Say yes and create a new standard that you can feel in yourselves.
Updates
If you want to hang around with a whole bunch of people that are just like you in an amazing place on the Gold Coast and you haven’t been to a conference that is around mindset in business, is fun and playful, and there is a whole bunch of goodness happening, if you want to be saying yes to something that is different and set a new standard for yourself – definitely, definitely, definitely come to NatX 2019!
We’ve got an amazing line-up of speakers and all the speakers will be hanging out with one another and hanging out with you. There is no “green room” where they are all separate.
We’re talking about sharing our experience, sharing our yeses to get to a space where we’re all playing a different game. We’re all saying yes and creating a new standard for our profession and a new standard for you about what your life looks like and what it could be like.
I’m going to be doing another couple of lives in the group from here at Awesomeness Fest and share with you guys some of the insights I’m gaining from the speakers here. Not everyone can be here but I’m here and I can share the insights with you.
Shout out to all of you who said yes at the beginning of this year to the Nat Biz Scav Hunt – I’ve gotten so much amazing feedback on this course.
For anybody who’s just come out of studying and you’re just about to open, now is the time to actually do this scavenger hunt. It is available evergreen right now – we just made it available today and so it’s available. It is like a little mini course to get yourself up and running and make sure those these ten (and a bonus!) things that we that are essential to have a successful practice get done.
We give you all the resources for it in the Nat Biz Scav Hunt. It’s a seven-day mini course and it’s available at the NatupreneurClub.com. We’ll be doing it live again in the first week of January to kick-start your most amazing year yet!
