I wanted to connect with you all and really bring 2018 to its conclusion with a lovely round up of what 2018 looked like for me and some of the lessons that I’ve learnt this year.
My 2018 Words of the Year – Ease and Flow
One of the interesting things I find with choosing a Word or Words of the Year is that they come up like a coin. So on one side, you say you want ease and on the opposite side of the same coin is difficulty or challenge. If you have flow on one side, on the flip side of that same coin is stagnation.
What I have found is that every time I have chosen a word for the year, sometimes I get the flip side of that coin. Experiencing the flip side of your coin really embeds that learning so much more because of the challenge that it brings.
My husband’s word for the year this year has been ‘impact’. Near the end of this year, he impacted his head so hard that he broke his neck. Two months ago he had a full head impact into a tree and he wouldn’t have learned the true meaning of impact until he hit that tree and broke his neck.
So when you’re choosing your words for the year consider that it might not come in the same package that you are asking for, but it will come.
Owning Your Identity
I was really playing with what it looks and feels like to truly be me in the public eye – what it looks and feels like to really be and embrace all parts of me.
I got a new tattoo this year. I got a pretty intense haircut at the beginning of this year (it’s just now growing back). You’ll see a lot of my videos from earlier this year were all about what would happen if I didn’t look the way I looked before. Could I still show up in my wisdom and in the way that I usually do?
What I learned through having that haircut is that, yes I can. I can really be me in all my own quirky weirdness.
One of my biggest lessons this year was around owning your uniqueness in a way that makes you feel empowered.
Initially, it can feel really challenging to own your uniqueness and your visibility, but once you do and lean into that uncomfortableness and get comfortable with that, it brings out a whole new level of vulnerability and then trust from the people that you serve.
Prioritising Your Values
So another of the biggest learnings I had this year was prioritising my values.
My biggest values are our family, our tribe, our business, and also our travel. Making sure that those are in balance was one of our little dances this year.
I talk about things as a “dance” because sometimes it feels like a tango when we’re right on track but then sometimes it’s like the beat changes and it feels a little bit odd and out of kilter until it starts to sway again and you’re back on track. That was one of our biggest lessons – how to bring your values in and how that looks on your schedule.
This year we went on about a half dozen family trips – little short trips but they really connected us as a family. Towards the end of the year, we actually went away a lot more – 7 different cities with the Revolution Series here in Australia and in New Zealand. We went to five different countries and that was an amazing time with our practitioners in Vanuatu, three amazing times in Bali with our practitioners. We also went to Japan for my 10-year wedding anniversary, which was epic. I went to New York for a mastermind for business and personal development. I went to New Zealand twice to see the Natupreneur Clubsters as well as with my family. I took 40 plane flights and 69 helicopter flights, so I got to fly so much this year, which lights up my soul.
I loved every minute of meeting you guys and having hugs, connecting, and seeing what you really do in real life. It’s one of my favourite things! I can’t wait to meet you at the Natupreneur Experience 2019!
Achievements
We doubled the number of people in the Natupreneur Hub, which is epic, and I really want to double it again next year!
I am super excited to bring free trainings to you guys every week – it’s where my flow is. I feel like I get a download of information and then I share it with you guys. I like doing that in small chunks and from the feedback I get from emails and comments on YouTube, it seems that you guys like it as well. I plan to do 52 free trainings this year and I’m going to be bringing even more of those in small chunks and small e-courses next year. I’m super excited about that!
We brought on three new staff in our business this year and had 100 more people in the Natupreneur Club. We took 80 people to Bali for our immersions.
We also had seven visits to the hospital this year, so it’s not just you who juggles life, the universe, and everything! Every human does.
We had graduations this year for my kids.
I got nominated for two awards in two different places – the ANS and the Beamer Awards. It was an absolute honour to be in those spaces and again, connect with you guys. I love seeing you all in real life and I just vibe off hanging out with all of our tribe of like-minded praccies (another reason we’re we’re doing the NatEx next year).
We upgraded a whole bunch of our filming and did a whole bunch of new filming for 2019. I went on two book writing retreats so we’ve got two books coming out next year. One is on how to run your business as a practitioner and the other one’s a fictional one so that’s exciting!
I went solo in a helicopter so I can fly helicopters by myself now, which is super exciting.
And I really got into the creativity side of things. Have you gotten into the creative zone and just realised that you’d forgotten all about the fun you had as a kid? I’ve made candles this year, bath salts, and we just made Christmas cards yesterday. If you follow me on Instagram you might have seen it. We made deodorant, we made some homemade ‘kitchen witch’ type of stuff, and I really got into my kundalini yoga this year.
What Does 2019 Look Like?
So what does 2019 look like after a 2018 of ‘ease and flow’ looks like an explosion of activity?
It’s a really interesting space to be in when you put your intentions out for the following year. At the moment, my intentions are simplifying. Which, again, comes with the flip side of complexity so that you can see what simplifying actually looks like.
So what I would love to hear is what you are choosing for your word for 2019?
I’d love to hear about the top three things that you want to achieve in 2019 and anything that you want to celebrate from 2018. I’d love to hear about it in the comments section below. I’d love for you to have the acknowledgement and celebration that you need about 2018 to bring it to a conclusion.
Make 2019 Yours
Remember – 2019 can be whatever you choose it to be!
I don’t know what 2018 has been like for you, but I really wanted to share it to let you guys know that life happens. You can achieve your dreams and your goals even when your year turns out in a whole different way than what you thought it would. Even with seven hospital visits and those other things this past year, I got to meet hundreds and hundreds of you, we got to double the number of people here in the Natupreneur Hub and we’ve totally got this wave of change happening.
I love connecting with you and I am committed to continue to connect with you both in real life and here online. I can’t wait to see what 2019 holds for you!
Kick Off Your 2019 Right
2019 begins here in the Hub with the Natupreneur Scavenger Hunt. We’re gonna do that for a week so that you can get all of your ducks in a row.
Then we’ve got a one-day e-Course Experience. While you’ve got some time off, we’re gonna see if we can create an e-course in a day.
In February, we’ve got the NatEx.
So hopefully, there’s some yummy goodness in there for you guys!
I’d really love to hear all about what you got out of 2018, what you want from 2019 and I’d love to hear what your word is!
I hope you all experience great success this year.
