Today I am coming to you for a quick little burst of mindset inspiration around Stories, Strategy, Setting & State.

I was recently reminded about a Tony Robbins-ish style of process.

It’s about stories

One of the parts of that process is all about stories:

  • stories we tell ourselves
  • the strategy that we need
  • the setting we get put in
  • and the state that we create to either create from that space or maybe not

The thing that we all think we need is a strategy.

We want the strategy of how to do a thing.  We want to know how to do it, more information, more details, more knowledge.

The thing about that is that when it comes to strategy, all the strategies and content is already out there. It’s very likely that you can find whatever you’re looking for on Google, or you can find it on the help button, you can search for it or find it on YouTube. So, all of the strategy is out there, ready to be found.

But as lifelong learners and practitioners, we always want to learn more, we want more strategy and more information. The bit that we forget – and the bit that’s missing that actually creates the motivation and the change we’re looking for – is the story we’re telling ourselves about why we need more detail or more strategy.

The story that controls that mindset will change whether or not we get the strategy and what we do with the strategy.

What story are we telling ourselves and what mindset do we have?

Our mindset is perpetuating us to constantly try to find more strategy, more information and more knowledge. This part of history allows us to be so information-rich that we are driven to try and find more information. It’s all there out on the internet – it’s available at the tips of your fingers in a way that has never been available before.

What’s missing is the story that you’re telling yourself about that information.

The story might be:

  • I don’t have enough
  • I’m not clever enough
  • I don’t have all the details
  • Give me more detail
  • Give me deeper data

But that’s just a story that goes on behind the strategy.

After the strategy is the setting

What follows the strategy is the setting you put yourself in.

When you actually get all that information, are you putting yourself into the mindset of a learner where you just continue to absorb more, more, more, more, more information?

And then it’ll be filed in your filing cabinet or your inbox without ever taking the action that you need?

The state you put yourself in is what needs to change in order to give you the motivation to actually take action on the strategies you learn.

What story are you telling yourself that keeps you from actually taking action?

There is plenty of information out there. If you want to know how to get more clients, I guarantee you I’ve got something free. There are a million places you can find free content for that, free information on that.

What’s stopping you is:

  • the story that you’re telling yourself and the mindset that’s there
  • the setting that you are in – if you’re surrounded by people who don’t think you can do a good job or that your business is going to fail and you listen to them
  • and the state where you are stagnating, where you’re not moving forward, where you are not consistently and persistently putting awesomeness into your brain and awesomeness into your environment

If that’s where you are, then it doesn’t matter what strategy or information you get,  you’re not going to do dick with it (to be really brutally honest).

So, how do you work on your internal story, your setting, and your state?

Well, you put yourselves in environments that change them.

You need to change your environment in order to change your mindset.  Just sitting at your computer doing this isn’t.

One good option is going to a conference. Meet new people and open yourself to new experiences.  It can change your whole perspective.

And another great option is to join the Natupreneur Club.

We have conversations about the story side of things, what’s stopping you in your brain, the setting and the state that you need to get yourself in to actually get stuff done. How to change the way you’re doing things to get a different result.

If you’re not doing things differently and you’re just collecting more and more information, then you’re going to get the exact same result you’ve been getting.

Notice where you are telling yourself a different story and notice when you are not looking after your settings. Notice the environment that you’re in, the people around you, and the state that you’re creating.

Some of that state can be internal – how are you not looking after yourself and how are you not looking after the tribe you surround yourself with so that you can make the change you need?

This is my quick tip for you today on mindset.   Now go take action and make a change!
