If you’ve already made the transition your clinic from offline to online, then I want to congratulate you in taking this first step!

Yes, there’s more milestones and celebrations to come, but just take the time to pat yourself on the back at this very moment.

Setting Yourself Up For A Successful Transition

I’m going to really dive deep into this because it is something that really important, and that is setting your natural health clinic up for success online.

All of us have some level of qualification in the holistic or health field and all of us want to help people. Putting ourselves out there isn’t an easy thing for most of us. But, your uniqueness is the way you look at the world, the things that you find fascinating, the values that you, the way you help somebody.

Your uniqueness is what we want to showcase to the world, and going online is the way to do this.

Let’s get started!

Moving Your Clinic To The Digital Space

Let me tell you a story.

My hubby and I can bang on about the same thing over and over again. I could talk about magnesium for half a decade – you know, the benefits, the uses, all the magnesium things!

But it wasn’t until he read a blog post, listened to a podcast, and someone in his mountain biking crew mentioned that magnesium could help with his cramps at night. What happened?

He takes magnesium now!

He had to hear it specifically from somebody resonating with him.

As online practitioners, we have the opportunity to be constantly present, even if we think no one is listening. Someone will be listening, and they will hear your wisdom.

To get your message out there though, you really need to have your processes in place.

Systems To Help You Move From Offline To Online

Without a doubt, much like you currently have in your in-consult practices, you will need systems when you move from offline to online.

Here are four great ones:

These are a booking system, a patient management system with the same forms you use in your natural health clinic, and they have options for telehealth and displaying/booking your e-courses and packages and programs on your website.

They’re able to take the money, do follow-up emails, reminder emails and have a money financial tracking system. These systems are built to take everything from your natural medicine clinic into an online space.

Transforming Your Clinic Consultations

Many naturopaths are worried that people aren’t going to continue to pay the amount that they’ve been used to.

So, we need to think on our feet and pivot our business. Here are some ideas for when you transition from offline to online.

Acute consultations

Acute consultations are somewhere between 15 and 30 minutes, check out my checklist on how to run an effective one.

In those acute consultations, make sure you have the standard identifiers and red flag questions, but build this into a smaller consult. You still have a duty of care to that client.

Create packages

A package is a combination of multiple consultations online as well as some form of education in between.

An example of this is my adrenal fatigue package. I have an initial consult and then I suggest the package. First, I send them the information that I would usually talk to them about, such as how stress affects their bodies. Then we have a follow-up consultation to talk about food and mood and factors related to adrenals, cortisol and neurotransmitters. Finally, we have a follow-up consultation.

Packages are exciting because they take your clients on a journey. They also ensure a regular income for you which will make things easier in this current climate.

Consider online programs

An e-course is a program whereby learning takes place online and is either live or recorded.

Marketing Your Clinic Online

If you don’t already have one, get yourself a website.

Consider a website to be your shop window where people can come and find out more about who you are, what your values are, what you do, and how you do it.

This is where clients can learn about packages and programs available, book appointments and order more treatments. It’s also how people can find you online, by appearing in Google search results.

If you don’t have a website, now is the time to seriously consider getting yourself set up on one. They don’t have to cost loads of money and they are definitely worth it. There are lots of platforms to choose from, WordPress has the best SEO so people can find you, and it has plenty of plugins such as booking forms and email collection, all you have to do is press activate. Squarespace, Weebly and Wix are other platforms, and each has their own pros and cons so pick one that feels right for you.

Claim your Google My Business free business listing. You can post photos and offers to your profile, showcase your talents and values to clients. It’s a really valuable tool to have, whether you have a website or not. You don’t need one to claim your space.

Get Your Clinic Seen And Heard

I cannot emphasise this enough – get your natural health clinic on social media. Your clients and potential clients are all using social media and you need to be in their space where they can find you.

Create a business profile on Facebook, put up inspirational content on Instagram or show your wisdom on YouTube.

Whatever you choose, make sure that you throw your weight into the platform(s) and give it your all. People know when you’re doing things half-hearted.

The best thing about social media is that the basic stuff is free, it doesn’t cost anything to have a profile with a platform, unless you want to advertise.

Podcasts have grown massively over the years and are definitely worth investigating. Choose a topic you know a lot about, or identify an audience you know you can help, like over-worked mums, and then look for the podcasts they listen to. If you have friendly clients, ask them what they like to listen to. Go to the podcasts’ website and pitch yourself in. You know you have wisdom and can add value, show them what you can do.

Guest blogging is a great way to build your profile using someone else’s website. It’s like writing a blog post for your website, only it’s going to sit on another website, usually a popular one, and link back to your website. A great way to build your online presence as a thought leader, because you are.
