In this article, I’m going share with you how creating your ideal week will be a game-changer for your productivity levels.

Why?

Because if you’re looking to move away from the busyness of your business to be more purposeful and aligned with your bigger vision for yourself, then taking a look at how to create your ideal week is the best first step.

Your Ideal Week Falls out of Your Ideal Business Model

In a previous article, I talked about the different levels of the ideal business model for practitioners looking to pivot away from face-to-face consults.

Each level of the business model is focussed on meeting your ideal client where they are and taking them on a journey to where they want to be via an online offering.

Once you’ve identified your ideal client and you start working through each of the levels of your business model, you’re going to find that you need to get really laser-focused on your productivity.

However, the good news is that you don’t need to be in the productivity zone ALL the time.

In fact, I highly encourage you to identify the times in your day that you AREN’T productive so that you can factor this in when you create your ideal week.

How to Create Your Ideal Week

The first step is considering what you want your ideal week to actually look like and then you can start moving towards that vision.

At what times during the day are ideal for you to undertake one-on-one consultations? What times of the day do you need time out to eat and rest? What times are better spent working on treatment plans?

Only you can create this, so do give yourself the time and space to visualise your aligned and purposeful ideal week.

Consider what parts of the day:

  • You are most yourself in
  • Where your energy lies
  • When you are your most creative
  • Where you need some time to reflect or recuperate

Also, look at the wider picture and consider where it is in your week or your month that you’re at your most optimal when it comes to energy and motivation.

You may need to experiment to find out the answers, and that’s okay!

Create the Time You Need

When it comes to creating your ideal week, you may need to get creative.

So, grab your daily planner or use my Time Tracker and get to visually planning your ideal week.

When you write your plans down you might find your more likely to stick to them!

Consider colour coding blocks for an easier visual representation of your peak times. Maybe green blocks of time are your most productive in the day; orange could be the time where you need to be doing creative activities to feed your soul; and red could be the time blocks that you don’t book anything in, you just take the time you need for yourself.

You Might Be Surprised That Your Ideal Week Will Result in Less Busy Time

When I went through this exercise of creating my ideal week, I was so used to being busy. I was certain that I wouldn’t find or create any spare time.

But what I discovered was that I was being busy for busy’s sake. I wasn’t being busy for efficiency or focus or concentration or ease.

When I understood more about my ideal week, it meant that I took control of my time and I had SO much more energy and SO much more focus.

My procrastination turned into productivity and in turn, it meant that I could serve my clients and myself with more purpose and alignment.

And you can too!
